Discover Croatia’s rich heritage and stunning coastline with this exquisite custom itinerary!

Journey through the beautiful rolling countryside visiting charming medieval villages. Explore Istria; a heart-shaped peninsula in the Adriatic Sea, where Croatia, Slovenia and Italy meet, often called the Tuscany of Croatia. Enjoy a truffle hunting experience and a taste of these delicacies. Enjoy a walking tour of Rovinj, and wander the cobbled streets lined with unique shops, pastel-colored bars and sidewalk cafes. Discover the Pula Arena, one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters in existence. Venture into Slovenia to visit the world-famous Postojna Caves and step aboard the underground cave train and descend into a subterranean paradise shaped by tiny droplets over millions of years. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and one not to miss!

One group transfer will be included from the airport to the hotel in Zagreb on May 11 (Flight must ARRIVE PRIOR to 10am) and from hotel to the airport in Zagreb on May 18, 2025 (DO NOT schedule flights prior to 11:00am). DAILY ITINERARY:

DAY 1 - Welcome to Zagreb, Croatia

Your Croatian adventure begins in the Capital city of Zagreb. Upon arrival at the airport, there will be one group transfer to your hotel. This evening enjoy an included Welcome dinner at a local restaurant. (D)

Hotel: Zonar Hotel Zagreb or similar – 2 nights

This morning, join a local specialist to explore the two-tiered capital city of Zagreb. Admire the Opera House, Zagreb Cathedral at Kaptol, the second tallest building in Croatia, and take a stroll around the 17th -century Ban Jelacic Square.

Then board the city’s funicular to St, Mark’s Church with its colorful tiled roof and the Lotrscak Tower dating back to 1266 and used as part of the town’s defenses against the Turks.

Later, journey through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Zagorje region with a local expert to the charming village of Kumrovec. We will visit the simple peasant house of Marshal Tito, the president of former Yugoslavia, for a local perspective into this regions complicated history. The surrounding properties have been restored to represent the village life of 100 years ago.

Enjoy a farm-to-table meal with drinks in a picturesque restaurant much favored by the locals. Magnificent views of the rolling, vine-clad hills and Veliki Tabor castle come as a bonus. (B, D)

Today, we’ll head to Istria; a heart-shaped peninsula in the Adriatic Sea, where Croatia, Slovenia and Italy meet. Often called the Tuscany of Croatia, wine is an unavoidable part of the Istrian gastronomy. Known for its rich wine-making history, you will sample some of the region’s best at a variety of wineries with an included lunch. (B, L)

Hotel: Astoria Hotel Opatija or similar – 4 nights

This morning enjoy a truffle hunting experience in Croatia’s truffle capital of Istria. Truffles can only be found with the help of trained dogs or domestic pigs who catch the scent and begin to dig for the valuable truffles.

After the hunt, enjoy an included lunch before heading to Motovun and Groznjan, Istria’s hilltop towns. Your Tour Director will share some medieval history and allow for time to explore on your own. (B, L)

Today, we’ll head to the charming old town of Rovinj, a medieval tangle of tight streets and alleys that pass under archways and twist up stairways worn by centuries of use. Enjoy a walking tour with a local specialist. Wander the cobbled streets lined with tempting shops, pastel-colored bars and sidewalk cafes.

Then enjoy free time to explore on your own before heading back to the hotel. (B)

Today, you will visit the area of Pula known for its multitude of ancient Roman buildings, the most famous of which is the Pula Arena, one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters in existence. Your Travel Director will give you an orientation tour, and then there is free time to explore on your own, or perhaps visit the Archaeological Museum or Venetian Fortress.

Later, enjoy an olive oil tasting before an included dinner. (B, D)

This morning, we will venture into Slovenia to visit the world-famous Postojna Caves. Step aboard the underground cave train and descend into a subterranean paradise shaped by tiny droplets over millions of years. Enjoy a 3.7km journey on the world’s only double-track cave railway. See a world of stunning stalactites, stalagmites, columns and curtains and marvel at the five-meter tall Brilliant; the bright white stalagmite is the symbol of the Postojna Cave.

Then you will return to Croatia, and Zagreb, for your last night and enjoy an included farewell dinner at a local restaurant. (B, D)

After breakfast, there is one group transfer to the Zagreb airport for your flight home. What an amazing journey! (B)
