Our journey will begin on the sophisticated streets of Milan, joining a local expert
to take us through some of the city’s most iconic sites. We will travel to the beautiful Lake Maggiore and visit some of the Borromean Islands including the largest and most famous, Isola Bella, renowned for its incredible palace and stunning botanical gardens. We’ll enjoy multiple wine tastings and take part in a traditional truffle hunt. This tour offers an amazing immersive and flavorful experience!

DAILY ITINERARY:
Upon arrival, you’ll have a private transfer from the airport to your hotel. Embrace the glamour of Milan today, your introduction to the sights and sounds of northern Italy. Enjoy a Welcome Dinner this evening along with an orientation drive of the city. (D with wine)
Starhotels Ritz Milan – 1 night
Wander through the sophisticated streets of Milan joining your ‘Local Expert’ on a tour of the city that will reveal the city’s iconic and unexpected highlights. See the Gothic Cathedral, glass-domed Galleria and La Scala Opera House, then it’s time to head to Lake Maggiore.
This evening, escape to the charming and tranquil island of Isola dei Pescatori. A short boat ride from the shores of Lake Maggiore, this fisherman’s Island is inhabited year round by only 50 permanent residents. Stroll through the small piazza surrounded by the tight and winding alleys to enjoy a sumptuous dinner where reservations have been booked in one of the Island’s splendid restaurants. Simplon Hotel Baveno – 2 nights
Today, experience the premier attraction of Lake Maggiore, the Borromean Islands. We’ll take a private boat over to Isola Bella, the largest and most famous island, renowned for its incredible palace and stunning Botanical Gardens. A guided tour of this privately owned palace with free time to admire the gardens is a must.
This evening, you’ll have free time to explore and choose where you’d like to dine. (B)
Today, we’ll head to Pollenzo and on the way, visit Grinzano Cavour castle, an imposing squared 13th century structure that was home to Camillo Benso, the Count of Cavour, a leading figure in the Italian unification process. He is also acclaimed for the introduction of new techniques in agriculture and winemaking. We’ll also visit the ethnographic museum housed within the castle.
Afterwards, we’ll stop in Carrelli, the home of Asti Spumante and visit one of the historic wineries for a wine tasting and lunch. (B, L)
Hotel Castello Santa Vittoria – 3 nights
Today, meet with a hazelnut grower as we visit the Abrigo farm known for hazelnuts, and enjoy a product tasting, including fresh hazelnut cake.
Then, visit the small, picturesque town of Alba, once called the” One Hundred Towers Town”, famous for the international Truffle Fair which occurs every year. We’ll enjoy a guided stroll through the historic center.
Later, we’ll travel to Lange to experience artisanal productions and taste some of the many delightful wines of Piemonte. (B)
Today, we’ll head to the little town of Bubbio to visit the only goat’s milk cheese maker of Piemonte. Here, the Arbiola cooperative selects and matures the best robiolas and other cheeses. Visit the maturing rooms and enjoy a cheese tasting.
Next, meet a local truffle hunter and his dog. We’ll learn about this highly priced delicacy and immerse ourselves in local traditions as we take part in truffle hunt. Afterward enjoy a truffle tasting with salami and cheese.
Before heading back to Pollenzo, visit a Barolo-producing winery where you will explore the cellars and learn about wine-making methods, as well as enjoy a wine tasting. (B)
This morning, we’ll head to Genoa where a Local Expert will take us on a guided walking tour of the Old City. See the Old Port and visit Sottoripa market. Continue on along the narrow alleyway to Piaza Soziglia and admire beautiful Renaissance buildings and palaces along Via Garibaldi. Pass by Palazzo Ducale, Columbus House and the Cathedral.
Then, we’ll visit an early 20th century Torrielli grocery as well as a covered Mercato Orientale built in 1899 on the site of an older cloister. Stop at the Panarello, Genoese’s renowned confectioner to have a taste of one of their delicious pastries.
Enjoy a delightful lunch of local specialties in one of the traditional restaurants of the historic Old City before returning to Milan for your last night.
